My Journey
Growing up in a quiet Westcountry town, I was shaped by the values of hard work, curiosity, and gratitude. My parents’ aspirations for me went beyond the boundaries they’d known, instilling in me a desire for opportunity and a deep appreciation for the close-knit world around me. Yet, I was restless to see what lay beyond my familiar bubble—a spirit of adventure that has remained with me ever since.
This sense of adventure led me down unexpected paths—early, (unsuccessful!) attempts at becoming a Fighter Pilot, then Spy, revealed my appetite for challenge and discovery. It was almost by accident that I found Psychology, drawn in by a fascination with people’s stories and how they shape the world of work. My career took flight in leadership consulting, where I assessed and developed leaders and teams across industries and continents. Relocating to Silicon Valley became a turning point, testing my adaptability and broadening my perspective as I moved from practitioner to leader, learning to thrive in diverse, fast-moving environments.
Now, back in the UK, I bring over two decades of experience leading teams, advising clients, and helping companies grow—from nimble start-ups to global organisations. My journey has reinforced the importance of curiosity, humility, and adaptability. Today, these values drive my work as I partner with clients and colleagues on new leadership challenges, always fuelled by that same sense of adventure that started it all.
Why I Work With Teams
People are messy. Teams are messier. I love work that is hard, complex, and cannot be solved with ‘quick fix’ solutions. The discomfort is where we learn most about ourselves and others. It's here where our individual impact can be amplified - for the betterment of teams, organisations, and communities. In a world where algorithms and automation risk pulling people apart, I see teams as the vehicle to enhanced human purpose, worth, and connection.
Whether it's a transformation, turnaround, or reducing the planet's temperature, these challenges cannot be tackled in a vacuum. It will take teams, teams of teams, and bridging the space between them to do the work sustainably. I genuinely believe that effective teaming will shape a future that our children's children can be proud of. If my small role can enable that impact, then why would I be doing anything else?
