My Journey

I was born in South Africa and grew up during a period of profound uncertainty and transformation. As a child, I was largely unaware of the political and social forces reshaping the country around me, yet those early conditions quietly formed my worldview. Looking back, I am struck by how differently history might have unfolded without courageous leadership, sustained dialogue, and a willingness to collaborate toward a shared future. My adolescence coincided with the birth of the rainbow nation, a time that awakened my sense of adventure, deepened my love of people, and instilled a lasting curiosity about how individuals and societies make meaning during times of change. These formative years planted the seeds for a lifelong commitment to learning, reflection, and human connection.

After a gap year spent in the northernmost parts of Canada, I moved to the UK, a transition that further stretched my perspective. I initially pursued an engineering degree, drawn to structure and problem-solving, before recognising that my deeper interest lay with people. This led me to psychology and, ultimately, to doctoral training in existential psychotherapy and counselling psychology. Immersed in continental philosophy, I became particularly drawn to questions of freedom, agency, and meaning-making.

For the past 15 years, I have worked in leadership advisory, applying psychological insight to help leaders and organisations maximise their impact on others and the world. I have partnered with private, public, and third-sector organisations to assess, coach, and develop senior leaders and their teams. Every engagement continues to shape me, as I learn from the people I work with and seek to awaken insight that reaches beyond logic and everyday knowledge—connecting who leaders are with how they lead.

Why I Work With Teams

Having spent more than a decade developing individual leaders, I have repeatedly encountered a natural limit to what can be achieved alone. In my coaching and assessment work, it has become clear that sustainable impact is not created through individual excellence, but through the quality of relationships between people. Leadership momentum often stalls when attention remains fixed on the “within,” while the real leverage sits “in-between” — how leaders listen, challenge, align, and work together. This realisation has drawn me back to the central thread of my own journey: relationship as the primary driver of meaning, influence, and change.

In an increasingly individualistic and disconnected world, teams matter more than ever. Loneliness, fragmentation, and loss of shared purpose are no longer abstract ideas; they are lived organisational realities. My work is focused on creating the conditions for teams to truly connect, move beyond individual agendas, and lead through partnership rather than hierarchy. I believe deeply in helping teams generate impact that is greater than the sum of their parts — going further together in service of a better future.
